If you have a Cricut machine then a cricut mat is a must. Most cricut machine come with a mat but it is always good to have an extra one on hand. One reason it is handy to have an extra mat is if you are cutting several things and it is going to take more than one piece of paper, that you can take one mat out and put another in without having to take off the paper on the first. Another reason if you have a mat that is not sticky enough than you can have another mat there to use. The mats are extremely sticky when they are new. You do not want to use delicate paper on a new mat it will rip when taking it off. One way to solve this is to rub a tee shirt on it and this will lessen the sticky. Make sure you clean you mat when you are done using them and put the plastic cover back on, this will help keep them sticky longer. The stick does go fast but you can use glue stick on them to replace the stickiness.

These are an obvious purchase for the Cricut machine. They work well, but the adhesive needs to last a bit longer. Right now there are no other options, but hopefully, Provo Craft will work on the longevity of the mats. I've found that using a small roller pin over the paper before putting in the Cricut helps with holding the paper in place.

Like the larger mat much better than the smaller one. You don't have to cut paper to fit on the mat like you do with the 6 x 12. It goes with the expression machine which allows you to cut much bigger projects.
