I was so excited to receive another Mystery box in the mail and this time the contents suggested a project to me right away. (What a relief!) It was the plastic utensils and mini gel pen holder and pens that got me thinking along the lines of a recipe box and card holder so I went to my LSS in search of the perfect box. I thought this cute paper mache house could be decorated as sort of a gingerbread house...perfect! I could already envision making candy from the shrink film and the kraft paper would be great for my gingerbread boy and trim on the house. I covered it in mixed patterns from Me & My Big Ideas and used corregated board for the roof. All of the inking was done with distress inks in Frayed Burlap.

Two stacked coasters became the base for my recipe card holder. The candy cut on top is from Doodlecharms. The gingerbread boy is from Stretch Your Imaginaton cut twice in chipboard, twice in dark brown cardstock on shadow and also twice on regular using the kraft paper from we received in our box. I wanted to to be plenty sturdy enough to hold the fork holder for the recipe card. I spray painted the fork silver and glittered the handle. The little shrink plastic snowflake was cut from the new Very Merry Tags cartridge. The shrink plastic candy pieces on the base are from Doodlecharms.

I really had a ball with the shrink plastic. Here again, all of the candy is from Doodlecharms and the large snowflake on the roof is also from Very Merry Tags. To color the plastic I first sanded it with my Tim Holtz sanding grip and colored with permanent markers. The door is the negative cut from the small snowflakes that I also shrunk, backed with frosted vinyl and mounted on the cardboard from the mini cereal box. My cereal was Kix swirls which had pretty bright candy colors, but with the kraft paper and the red glass glitter I didn't think it would go. My first unsuccessful attempt at coloring them was to try spray paint. I had cereal flying all over the place so back to the drawing board. I finally decided to dip them individually in gesso. After drying overnight I was able to ink them a bit and attach them to the chimney as stones. At first I was going to use a paer punch to add icicles to the house but then thought shrink plastic would be so much cooler. I used the grass cut from Plantin Schoolbook and stretched it the length of the plastic. I was amazed that when I baked it it turned out to be the perfect size for the side of the house. The front and back are pieced.

I wanted to add some "gingerbread" to my house so I used some more of the kraft paper to punch this trim.

On the back of the house I criss crossed the other two utensils which were also sprayed and glittered. I welded "Seasons Eatings" using the roly poly font from Plantin Schooldbook and added adhesive beads. I used the bells embossing folder from Sizzix.

I embossed the bells twice and used the plate as a stencil to color them with gold leafing pen. The bow was inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in fired brick. before removing the stencil I rubbed Versamark over the surface of the bow and sprinkled on heat and stick powder. Then I removed the stencil and heated it with my heat gun until the powder became sticky and sprinkled on the German glass glitter. Wow is that glitter beautiful! It has a really vintage look to it and I can't wait to use it on other projects.

Inside the box are the coordinating recipe dividers. The tabs are cut from From My Kitchen and the labels are done using the mini gel pens. I was really excited to receive the pens and holder. They work the same as the Cricut markers but the fine detail you can get is amazing. Everything worked fine once I figured out I was trying to put the wrong end of the pens into the holder. LOL You need to push the END of the pen in, not the tip.

To add a little extra detail to my divider tabs I inked them and doodled some dots indide the letters. Notice I didn't bother with any "healthy" recipes, just goodies! So that's it! Contents used and accounted for. I hope you enjoyed seeing my project as much as I did making it. And thank you custom Crop for giving me the opportunity!
