The new When it's Cold Outside Cartridge is so full of beautiful intricate snowflake images that I had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to cut first. Then I began to think of how we often get so caught up in the festivities of the season that we forget it's true meaning. This keepsake card will be treasured for years to come and provides a reminder of the reason for the season. I built a base in Design Studio that was sort of ornament shaped using Plantin Schoolbook but added little feet so it could stand on a mantle. I welded the title "O Holy Night" to the basic manger snowflake using Blackletter font and enhanced the top star with one from Joys of the Season.

After cutting all of the elements for the project I decided to add some glitter. The snowflake cut fit through my Xyron 510 (5") so I ran it through right side down. Then to eliminate most of the adhesive "legs" I rubbed the cut and used my stylus (okay, I couldn't find my stylus but this worked) to trace around all of the images. Be sure also rub around the centers of the cuts too. Then I removed the cut and sprinkled on Doodlebug sugar coating. I prefer the fine rather than chunky for this project because of the intricacy of the details.

If any extra adhesive remains after glittering I simply use a pin or needle to remove it.

I also wanted my first mat to be glittered. I could have cut it in glitter paper, but since only a small portion of it would actually show I used my Glue Glider Pro around the edges of the mat and glittered only that portion. With the Glue glider it was easy to follow the curve on the mat but be sure to get your adhesive all the way to the edges. I also use this trick for square or rectangular mats for my cards, but I prefer using Terrifically Tacky Tape so my lines are perfectly straight and even.

Normally I glue my first mat directly to the card base but because of the little feet I added at the bottom for stability, I used 1/8th inch foam instead. I don't have a particular favorite brand of dimensionals. I just usually stock up whenever they're on sale, but as you can see, I use every bit of the package. LOL Here is where I added adhesive stars to the feet.

I used 1/16th inch dimensionals for the manger cut as shown and adhered it to the blue second mat. Before attaching the blue mat to the card I added loops of irridescent ribbon embellishment using Terrifically Tacky Tape. The blue mat is then attached with 1/16th inch dimensionals as well.

Here is a dimensional view of the card. Inside I added a blue mat on which you can stamp or write your greeting. It will require a tiny bit of hand trimming at the top to fit. As a final step I scattered tiny adhesive stars in the night time sky. Have a blessed holiday season! xxD
