For this layout, I decided to experiment a little with my new bottles of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.
The photo is of my older daughter, who was having a good laugh at home with her younger sis when this was taken, and the title just came to my mind when I saw the photo. And then I found this very apt quote by Oscar Wilde, who happens to be one of my favorite authors: “Life is too short to be taken seriously.” So appropriate!
Supplies used:
American Crafts Cardstock
Basic Grey Patterned Paper – Indian Summer Collection - Splendor
Prima Baroque Blooms – Sienna
Prima Holiday Lights Glitter Spray Flutter Branch
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Large Flourish Mask
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Coffee Shop and Iridescent Gold
Tattered Angels Glimmer Chips – The Crème Collection – Nature
Making Memories Vintage Findings Epoxy Foil Alpha Cream
7Gypsies 97% Complete Stickers – Year
TPC Studio ‘Time To Travel’ Framed Dome Stickers
Ranger’s Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye
Ranger’s Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy
Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser
Lace (From Prima and from my own stash)
Adhesives (Tape glue, Craft glue)
To begin, I positioned the Tim Holtz Large Flourish Mask stencil skewed to the left of the cardstock.

I then sprayed Glimmer Mist in Coffee Shop over it, followed by a light spritz of Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold on top of that, for an added bit of golden shimmer. I then inked the edges of the cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye.

Next, I cut the piece of Basic Grey patterned paper to measure approximately 7.25 inches x 5.25 inches. I distressed the edges of the patterned paper with an edge distresser, and then inked its edges as well as the edges of the photo, again with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye.

I mounted the photo onto the center of the patterned paper and pasted the entire piece to the right of the cardstock, overlapping slightly with the sprayed flourish.

Next, I added two strips of laces of equal length (approximately 8.5 inches long) across the bottom of the photo, placed one on top of the other.

I then used some craft glue to attach the Prima Flutter Branch between the matted photo and the sprayed flourish, positioning the branches according to the shape I desired.

I placed the large Prima flower at the bottom of the branch, just at the lower left corner of the photo mat. I added two short strips of lace to the left and right of the flower, at the top and bottom of the larger lace strip respectively.

I sprayed the Tattered Angels Glimmer Chip butterfly with Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold (again for a bit of shimmer).

I then applied a coat of Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy over it, and then pasted the butterfly to the left of the flourish and flutter branch after the crackle paint has dried.

Next, using a ruler to ensure it is straight, I placed the title alphas across the bottom right of the photo itself, and then made a little journaling embellishment from a 7Gypsies 97% Complete sticker and TPC Studio’s Framed Dome Stickers. I then attached this embellishment to the immediate left of the flower, on the lace strip
